Nothing is entered twice.
Quote, ticket, shipment and invoice are views of one thing.
The quote becomes the work order.
The order is the record.

Quotes
Products are configured, not looked up. Species, size, profile, texture, finish. A category narrows the attributes and an attribute narrows the modifications, so only what the shop can build is offered. The system prices combinations that have never been sold before.
A customer asks in square feet; the shop builds in lineal feet, and the coverage width between them is not the nominal width. Bison Sawmill does the conversion and shows its working on the line.
Production
A closed order becomes a ticket, and the steps come from the routing on each item quoted. Heavy timber and paneling have different step libraries.
Each operation carries a standard duration, so the lead time comes from what was ordered rather than a guess. Sales can see where it is without asking.
In the application
-
Activity
Calls, site visits and notes are logged against the deal. Editing the record does not count — only contact with the customer does.
-
Deals
A deal carries its parties, not only its amount: who is billed, where it ships, who specified it, and who ends up with it. The billed party can be a company, a person, or a company with a named contact. Three layers between the mill and the end customer is ordinary.
-
Pipelines and stages
Each process gets its own pipeline and stages. Heavy timber does not move the way a paneling order does. A stage’s weight is the share of deals in it that close, and the forecast is the sum across stages.
Books
Finished invoices go to the accounting system. Bison Sawmill does not keep your ledger.
